Replacing the OEM Michelin Pilots on the SS
Anybody out there care to weigh in on their choice to replace the 225/45 Michelin Pilot HX MXM4's that came with our cars? My 2008 has 37K on the clock and the tires need to be replaced. I'm amazed they lasted this long and they're very civilized. Never thought they were worth much in the wet... I think there is probably something better out there, especially for the price of these OEM tires, but what? Tire Rack shows most owners would NOT buy these tires again...
They've been OK in my book--not great, not the pits. I'm looking for good overall performance and tread life in the stock size and the ability to navigate light snow. Any suggestions as to what I should get?

Tried two when I upgraded Conti DWS and Goodyear F1AS
conti had better traction and the 245x40 fit fine. Went with the F1's cause they wont hydroplane it's the #1 concern here it rains all the time puddles all over.
If you have extra money to spend the Toyo T1-R is better than both of them,wore out 3 sets of them on the Bemmer awesome tires

Goodyear Eagle GT's seem to be doing me very well. They look a lot better than the stockers. The sidwall is a little more squared off and makes them look wider than the stock tire does. I haven't had them in deep snow, but I have dealt with 5 inches or so just fine. For the price, I bought them again for my wife's car, but I bet there are some out there that have a little better tread wear. We got around 20-25 thousand out of them on my her Camry. I wish I would have paid more attention to the milage when we replaced them. We will see how my SS does, but it is looking like it will be similar. Not sure how picky you are about tires. I can't say they perform bad, but if they last a while, look good, and go in the snow that suits me. Some people are a little more demanding. Good luck.

I just put continental extremes on my EVO 8. It went from barely liveable, actually impossible to live with to smooth, just from the tires.
You can feel the tires working, put the car into a drift and control it by the throttle.
Best, best, best tires I have every owned and when I return to LA will buy a set to replace the Michelins on my HHR SS.
