Alternator replacement 25 minutes
I was reading all the horror stories of replacing the alternator, mine lasted 11 years. The car sat for 6 months and then it died. It was a hot day 98 degrees and the battery was real low, I guess I should have let it charge before going out with the A/C on high.
I pulled the air cleaner off, removed the bracket for the front leg of the air cleaner.
I then used a small gear puller to grab the idler pulley and lifted up. The belt slipped off the alternator real easy. ( see pictures)
I removed the alternator and put in the new one. To put it on I had a friend pull up on the idler pulley with the gear puller and slipped the belt back on. I probably could have done it myself but since he was drinking my soda I used him. It was also 97 degrees, so I was tired. Did not jack up the car or have to remove any other parts. The handle makes it real easy to pull up. Just don't bubba it to the hood line.
I used a mirror to put the new belt on. 2006 - 4.2 engine.
Works well and was real easy to do.
