wasn't paying attention to that little gray clip on the solenoid electrical connector. was praying it wouldn't break. didn't even know that it came out...lol. once i got them out, they snapped right on to the new ones. thought i had gottent he wrong part. wasted $54 getting a new one and they was the same part#. oh well, i have a spare now. but this thread helped out alot. plus i changed the air filter too. thanks for the post whooper and all that had positive input.

Now i get a check engine light and car fumes from engine bay.

Excellent write up but what about the proper connections i think i hooked them up wrong and now i dont know which connector goes where?

The connectors are unique for each solenoid - check the first posting - scroll down thru the pictures and you will see a picture of the solenoids still in place, with the connectors disconnected. Hopefully you got the solenoids installed correctly: ie: the intake on the intake side and the exhaust on the exhaust side?

On our 2009, 2.2, as the wires to the solenoids come out of the main harness, that's how they plug in. In other words, the one that comes out of the harness closest to the firewall plugs into the closest to the firewall placed solenoid.
