This post just saved me a lot of time and money. My drivers side quit working this morning. Luck was with me that I didn't need it the rest of the day. I got home a couple hours ago and found this thread. Went out in the 25 degree temps, pulled it apart, fixed it as posted and put it back together. Took about an hour. Now that I see how cheesy these ends are I'll be looking for a used assembly next time I'm near a salvage yard.

I'm glad it worked for you. I had to do the same fix for mine years ago, on the drivers-side, and it is still holding together.

Good Morning All!

Leaving Baltimore after the game yesterday, "BAM"! Drivers side wiper stopped.

GF freaked out. Got home safely as the real rain started.

On the way home I told her I read about the issue on this forum and that it was an easy fix.

Well, easy was an understatement!

Less than an hour, DONE!!! She was amazed.

Thank You to the OP for the "How To", and to everyone else on the site that assist with all kinds of tricks and such.

You all have saved me $$$$ in labor and parts over the last five years!

Carl

Hey everybody,
I'm having a problem with the position of the wipers when they stop.
I was able to install the new wiper transmission but after I did the wipers are stopping in a upright position. Not sure wth I did any help would be awesome!

Do a double check to make sure it was all put back together just as it came apart - some good pics to compare to are on page 2 of this thread - https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-...n-32975/page2/

Oddly enough a link to this same thread is what helped? Or did whopper merge threads?

Scrolling is such hard work.

Nope, didn't merge threads - I just pointed out the appropriate posts/page in THIS thread that the previous poster missed. :)

My turn for this repair. Following the OP instructions. Drilled the hole. Tap is kind of tight but still going in, til... SNAP! FUUUUUUUUUdge....

Drilled out the ball joint thingee, popped out the plastic link and had to rig this:

Not proud of my repair. But it is working and should last till the new part arrives. It is the Wife's car and rain is expected 4 of the next 5 days.
