Thanks for the how to, I just finished changing my rear shocks. I wish everything on cars was this easy to replace.

thanks for this!
I have 55000 kms (30 kmiles) and rear shock is shot!
i couldnt believe it at inspection station when they failed our hhr. bummer! original lasted less than 5 years.

i am thinking of buying kybs, seems like all original stuff is cheapo quality despite the price. I am angry to GM for this.

55000 km and 4+ years is a problem, for a inexpensive and easy part to replace?

whopper, its no actual problem, i was just surprised the short life of original shock. i would assume it would last longer.

of course its anyways good time to replace shocks after 35 000mi/55000kms.

Go to any manufactures website, I'll bet that they all "recommend" replacing shocks & struts every 40,000 miles or less.

btw. atleast on 2008 LT original shocks were to be opened with 19mm(upper) and 21mm(lower) bolts. Easy bolt on, old shocks were LIQUID shocks?!
replaced with KYB gas shocks.

I tried to change rear shocks (chasing the annoying rattle) and couldn't get the bottom bolt loose! It seems to be stuck-rusted in the sleeve inside the rubber. After removing the upper bolt I see how they can wear and rattle- they have threads all the way to the head-no shoulder...john
