That could be answered if I knew how the previous owner abused the car.

Timing chains and guides can go anytime, no rule of thumb.

Timing chains are a safety precaution to change out, just for piece of mind. It the guides and their retaining bolts that can cause a problem.

Were there no service records with the SS? I say this because most owners that take care of their vehicles usually have all service and repair receipts from previous years in the car/truck. Just sayin'. Good luck with your SS. It really doesn't feel like an SS until it's tuned.

The dealer I bought it from did not have the records but they did include a carfax that showed the dealer it was mainly serviced at. I have not had a chance to call them yet to see if I can get the records.

Welcome!

X2 what everyone is saying about the GMT1 upgrade. You can buy the 3bar MAPS from ZZP or Crate Engine Depot, and they come with the plug and play pigtails so you don't have to solder anything.

As for the tune, you can get more power if you tinker with HPTuners, find someone who will write you an HPT file, or grab a canned tune from ZZP and work from there.

Welcome, and enjoy the ride!
