Exclamation Learned a good lesson today (driving in the rain)

Hhrs seem to do pretty good Corning at decent speed under normal sunny conditions. But today I was go on a on ramp(speed limit 30 I think) and I was doin I think like 35ish. It was completely down pouring and me thinking my car would handle normally took the corner to sharp. this sent me out of control and back end getting thrown out. Me thinking it would be a good idea then Jamed on the brakes as the backend hit the infamous curb slid over it, and scratched, dented and punctured the underside and side of the hhr.......lesson learned anyone else had things like this happen to them in the rain? I think I send pictures tomorrow. it's really not to bad and could have gone alot worse without my attempt to keep the car on the road. ... I got lucky.

Sorry for your loose of control, how old and what condition are your tires in?

I describe the feeling of driving an HHR on a wet roads as: all 4 wheels spinning at different speeds. The correct air pressure helps a lot.

What I get from the 1st post is that you were going above the speed limit posted. On top of that, driving conditions were bad, so you should have been below the posted speed because of those conditions.

Why would you think the car would handle "normally" under those circumstances ?
Sounds like strictly a case of driver fault to me.

About 1/2 tread does not really have much meaning.

Every tire manufacturer has many different tire designs in there line.

Each one has different characteristics.

You might want to go to The Tire Rack.com and do some research into tires.

Many have a Video and do comparisons so you can see what I am talking about.

There are many that do not do very well in heavy rain conditions.

Hope it is Lesson Learned for you.

Your lucky it was not a hydroplaning spin out at 60mph.

SF.

Most of the literature I've seen says 1/2 tread is "worn out".

In fact, on Brit TV Michelin advertises that their tires are just as good on wet roads 1/2 worn as full tread. Indicating that others are not.
