Mom leaves kids in freezing car to tan!

"She said she was going on vacation and felt that the tanning was a priority," Lt. Jeff Johnston said Friday.

Mom Allegedly Leaves Kids in Car to Tan
By Associated Press

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - Sheboygan police arrested a woman after she allegedly left her two children in a freezing car for 20 minutes while she went tanning.

The 27-year-old woman was arrested after two people spotted the children, ages 23 months and 10 years, in the car, the police department said in a news release. The vehicle was locked but not running.

Officers responding to the scene Wednesday evening were approached by the children's parents. The father met the mother at the tanning salon and was arguing with her about why the children were in the car, police said.

The children were dressed warmly, but they had "goose bumps" from the cold, the release said. They did not require medical attention.

The temperature at the time was 12 degrees, with a wind chill index of about minus 2 degrees.

The woman could be charged Friday with two counts of misdemeanor child neglect, police said.

"She said she was going on vacation and felt that the tanning was a priority," Lt. Jeff Johnston said Friday.

WTF! This is a perfect example of a person who should not be allowed to have children. I think the State should remove the kids from her custody based on the fact of Child Endangerment and she , IMO, is unfit to be a parent.

Do anything to endanger your kid, like this,or abuse them and the penalty if convicted should be sterilization.

To late for this one. She should have been neutered 11 years ago.

Something similar happened where I lived. My wife and were at target. Right when we walked in I over heard a gentleman at the customer service desk saying that there is a little boy (3-6 years old) in the car all by himself. After we finished shopping there was a cop car waiting for the parent to leave the store. The sad thing the mom left the DVD player on to keep him occupied while she was shopping. When she exited the store the bag she was carrying probably had no more than 3 items in it.

Just shows you the mentality of most people these days. Sad but true.

Hope they throw the book at her.

I seem to remember being outside playing in the winter, little brothers and sister, 12 degrees, mom not standing there watching our every move.
Is it because a (locked) car is involved, or are we just generally afraid of things that go bump in the night ?
