We had proper gun handling instruction at an early age, and nobody thought it was odd that a 12 year old had a fully stocked gun cabinet. Can you imagine that in this day and age, people would think you were crazy, yet it would not have occured to me as a kid to use firearms in an unsafe manner, any more than I would burn a house down or steal my parents car to plow through a crowd. Odd how our perceptions change over the years. Guess the stupid gang bangers are to blame (and maybe violent video games?).
What the heck is a 351 cal semi auto?
I had a bunch of guns as a kid too and I even took one (shotgun) to school on the bus to do a presentation on how it works. I can't even imagine what would happen to a kid who showed up at school with a gun!?
Times sure have changed!!

Red face

About 30 years ago I had a nice collection of WW2 era military weapons. 15 various automatic pistols, and 15 rifles all locked up in a big gun safe, in our "bedroom!" My Wife, at the time, finally had enough of looking at the thing. After a few years passed, I finally said the hell with it, and I sold all but 3 pistols. A German 9mm Luger (1937)... A German P38 9mm(1943)... And an S&W 38 Special Snub Nose that I keep right at hand.
Can't go shooting around here anymore either, like you could 30 or 40 Years ago! Houses, houses, houses, every where you look! No fun anymore, but then, I'm getting too old too have much fun anyway!

Well, as a former 'Gun Nut', I can certainly feel your pain at the eroding of our freedoms. However, I still have a couple, one is my trusted .45 cal pistol that requires no store-bought ammo, and the other is my 1897 Winchester 12 ga. pump. I had it Parkerized, so it will never rust in the next 300 years, and had the inside barrel 'glassed' so that it will never deteriorate even if I fired 5000 rounds of pellets through it. Here is a photo of the pistol, and I'll post one of the shotgun later tonight or tomorrow.

Winchester Model 1897 with Parkerized Metal

Receiver of Model 1897 showing action and hammer.

Ruger .22 cal 8" Slab-Sided Government Model Target Pistol with Leopold Scope

Gotta love those Glocks. I've been carrying my Model 19 for almost 30 years.

Wouldy. The rest of those are pretty darn nice too.
