Replacing Control Arms - anything else to go after???

Been a while since I last posted, but I'm getting ready to buy a new set of Moog control arms (RK620898 & RK620897) for my 2010 1LT (~82,000) & will be installing them in about 5 weeks during a long 4 day weekend. Just wondering if there's anything else I should look into replacing (or at least inspect) while working in that area???? Will also be doing oil-change at same time.

My biggest issues with the car have been 1> it has the shakes when braking 2> lots of front end clunk, especially noticeable in & out of my driveway & when crossing RR tracks.

That clunking you describe, I would take a close look at the sway bar bushings.
Also check the sway bar end links.
While you're under there check everything. At your cars mileage, also check the struts for any sign of leakage.

Chaosdsm, I am not trying to hijack your thread. I am dealing with the same thing.

George, to clarify:

"Sway Bar Links" and "Stabilizer Bar Links" and their associated bushings are the same part, correct? I see references to both names, but RockAuto only shows "Stabilizer."

How many bushings are there?

Sway bar or stabilizer bar. Same thing.

Just did a quick screen grab of this. Pay no attention to the prices since they're genuine GM stuff.

Boy that helps with the visualization.
So potentially two bushings (one on each side) that might have broken down on the stabilizer bar. So replacing the links and the bushings would be a good plan.

Take a cruise through the "how-to" area.

Replace #2 and #4, sway bar or stabilizer bar, same thing.
Also look at the strut mount bearing plates

I replaced the control arms, which cured a developing shimmy, and improved highway speed handling, but had little to no effected on the designed in HHR front end clunk. I will have to tackle the sway bar bushings next.
