I think worrying about the difference between .042 and .041--that's all of one-thousandth of an inch--is a huge waste of time.

When I worked at a Honda dealer, I myself never set a plug gap nor did I ever see anyone else set a plug gap. Hib is right, .001" is just not worth bothering over. I usually just take a quick look at the plugs making sure they weren't dropped and damaged and put them in.

I always have to check the gap (or I can't sleep).. But would never sweat over .001" diff..

X2, plus I always seem to get one plug with about a .05-.07 difference from the others.
