strange issues after battery change, HELP!

hey all,
sorry if this issue was posted but responses were really old on other threads, so here it goes,
2010 hhr LT. 125k miles, replaced original battery today with one from advance auto parts.
door chimes, radio, turn signal clicks, TPMS, daytime running lights, and keyless entry/alarm no longer work. however, vehicle will lock when moved to drive and unlock when moved to park.
12v acessory in front still works.

i am leaning towards a trip to dealer to reprogram computer. changing the battery was a real PITA. especially with temps in the 90's out and high humidity.

thanks for your help guys. love this forum!

My first guess is that one of the BCM fuses under the hood blew.

How about the 50 amp maxi fuse next to the battery?

the 50 amp max fuse looked ok at time of new battery being put in. ill check under the hood tommrow and see. im assuming the sudden energy of new battery caused fuse to blow. no power to radio at all, so can't tell if its a security lockout or anything

It could also be a defective new battery!

my thought is if the battery is defective then vehicle would not start, and nothing else would work. some things still work while other's don't. lol. just my 2 cents worth. hey, at least the air condtioning works!

There are at least 2 BCM fuses under the hood. Look at the chart under the lid.

The maxi-fuse powers the BCM. I am suggesting that it got jiggled loose or blown. All of your symptoms are BCM related.

ok gotcha. i will check tommrow afternoon when i get up from my nap (i work overnights) hoping th maxi fuse is the issue, i really don't wanna have to back to dealership again. I really have enjoyed my HHR. just last week replaced the keyless entry remotes, they finally died, got a good deal on them on amazon.
i tried repairing with foil etc, to no avali.

did this issue ever happen to anyone else after a battery change? that OEM battery last 6.5 years. :)

Question,

Did you follow the correct procedure to remove and replace the battery in an HHR??

1. Remove Plastic panel to make room.

2. remove spare tire.

3. Remove negative battery cable.

4. Remove very carefully the battery vent tube.

5. Remove the positive battery cable.

6. Remove the hold down clamps.

Reverse all above to re install.
