I'm really liking how the hood ornament is coming along......great shape and proportions. Maybe tig weld a fillet at the intersections of the circle and the fins to give it a cast-in-one-piece look?. Anyway, I really like it.

Thank you lasater, I'm glad you like it! And yes I was planning on doing just as you suggested. I even thought about using a product called super alloy 5. It goes on like a solder and would require less bench work to clean up.

Super Alloy 5 works well Ben, I havent used it to make anything for a vehicle, but I've used it to replicate pieces for toy trains suffering from "intergranular corrosion" or "Zinc Pest".

It's an unfortunate condition where diecast Zinc parts made in the immediate pre and post WWII period self destruct from internal corrosion due to impurities in the alloy.



This postwar toy plane crumbled when picked up, Zinc Pest at its worst.
