HID retrofit

I'm looking to do an HID retro fit here soon, since I just got some spare headlights.

But I have a lot of questions before I get started.

I'm looking to do this as cheap as possible with the best most reliable results.

Materials:

Projectors,
I know that 3.0" projectors are better than 2.5", and since our headlights are pretty big I would like to fill that with the bigger size. I have seen some good ones for around $50 h1's.
Can anyone suggest some ideas?

Ballasts,
I would like some real liable ballasts, ones that last forever and don't flicker and are still in the cheap range.
Can anyone suggest some ideas?

Shroud,
I'm looking for a cool chrome shroud that has some LED lights built in bright enough to act as day time running lights. I would like to wire them as such as well, info on that would be great too, hopefully that is a separate wire.

I plan to keep the headlight chrome, but would like the LEDs from the shroud to act as day time running lights and reflect off of the chrome surface, and they must be 5000k pure white!
Can anyone suggest some ideas?

I really like the 5000k pure white look, but I wouldn't mind the blue hue around the cutt-off line.

I was planning on getting elaborate and changing the blinker and everything, but I decided to keep it simple. I rather have it up and running for cheap and just throw an LED in the blinker area.

Please get back to me all you retrofit professionals!

Thanks.

Cheapest and easiest is to go to ebay and purchase the kit that plugs into existing headlight with no modifications. Usually they can be found for around 30-50 dollars a pair including ballasts. Install is super easy just place the ballast on the metal near the headlight and plug the lights into the existing sockets.

No!

I'm looking at Morimoto mini h1 2.5" about $50

I want a cool shroud that will allow an LED to be a day time running light.

And if you could recommend a cheap ballast that doesn't flicker and is reliable, that would be great.

Also, is there a seperate wire for powering the day time running lights?

I would like to wire them to LEDs behind the shroud.

I'm running the genssi ballasts and bulbs in both fogs and headlamps. They also double as drls like I want. No flicker and the color is 6k which looks really good. I bought them from another member with the depot headlights. They completely update the car.

Ok, but if I want the DRL to trigger on LEDs and not the HIDs is there a seperate wire for that?

If I am understanding correctly u want only LEDs and not drls? Or both? I think drls for our cars are the same as low beams. If u want both u could probably tap into the low beam power wire. If not then u have a good question.

Correct, not both!

Just LED on during the day and HID on during the night.

I would like to know if there is a seperate wire ran to the headlight harness that is seperate from high and low that powers the DRL.

I know the DRL are controlled by the light sensor, so there must be some lead that connects to a relay.

Looking for anyone that has done this?

I thought I saw a retrofit for an HHR that had DRL???
