The window could pop out then slide up on tracks.

I really like the photoshop you did. Could you do the same but remove the top tail lights and leave the bottom ones? Another idea I have is to make the gas filler through the taillight.

Donbrew, I am not sure what you mean by having the window pop up and slide on tracks. Do you mean the track would be inside and the window would slide up by the headliner inside the vehicle?

I will have to look for the original file for this image. It was 2 computers ago but I may have it somewhere. I see you are in Fullerton? You may see my panel driving around sometime since I am also in Fullerton.

tracks mounted on scissor joints. So the window would pull toward you then slide up the tracks. You could probably engineer it so you could open the gate while the window was up.

I will keep my eyes open for your panel. I really like your 2tone paint.

I am going to buy a used rear hatch and put it in my bench, remove the window and see what options I have. I will definitely try any idea that works. Who knows, maybe your idea will be the easiest!

Just a thought! You have a panel, so how about removing and filling the back window in!
A true panel with no rear windows, fill the license plate , do the dual exhaust and a flip down tag plate!

Honestly, I'm not getting this opening rear window. The glass is glued in so you are going to have to make some sort of weather seal. The mechanics of the hinge/locking mechanism is going formidable. Serious fab skills are going to be required. And, if you did a really perfect job, it would look stock when closed. What????

Like I said, I just don't get it. What am I missing?
