13-14 hours, it would be a 2 day drive each way.

I am actually now re-thinking the Red highlights. My interior is black/grey and although I though it would be neat to match the exterior, maybe all black would be more subdued/mellow. I was looking at the red door inserts also, but that is over the top, and what got me re-thinking red vs black.

Your in Maryland aren't you? Yeah , I guess a run down the 95 would take that long, I drive from Niagara Falls , Ont , Canada to St. Pete's Beach in 2 days, the MIL can't handle a 21 hour drive straight thru!

Have you tried Brandywine? They are one of the largest salvage yards on the East coast and local to you.

Air Bags in Seats?

So, I found a set from a 2010 SS. The guy tells me that these have side impact air bags in them. How does that work ? Do they have their own sensors ? IE they do not need to be wired into the car, or is there a computer thing somewhere with wires that has to connected to the seats in order to make the air bags functional?

I'm not really concerned about it if I don't use this feature because my exiting seats do not have it. But it adds a lot of cost and makes them not feasible to ship because of the discharge device.

These are within driving distance, but I am trying to decide between these, which are all black and I'd have to go pick up, or a set of Black with the red highlights that I can have shipped.

Anyone have any knowledge to share ?

thanks

Uh ? There isn't any airbags in the seat themselves. The side airbags are behind the body pillar trim.

All 2010 SS seats were black only. AND, as a bonus, all 2010 seats will be the performance style seats.

If your vendor thinks there are airbags in those seats, you should make him double check that those seats are actually from an HHR SS.

Maybe he thinking the seat BELTS, they do have a explosive in them.

Or, the Passenger Presence Sensor in the passenger seat, no explosive. But part of the SIRS.

In any case he is wrong in some way; either terminology or factual.

The only "special" handling is that airbags can't fly in a passenger aircraft. UPS delivers airbags every day. I got 1 package containing 2 side curtain airbags and 2 seat belt assemblies for $8 shipping

I think that he just doesn't want to be bothered with the shipping. Easier for them to just have them picked up by the customer.

I'm waiting for a response back from them on if they will ship with the info I provided. But will probably make the trip to pick them up anyway, just to make sure what they are.

Getting closer to pulling the trigger on the buy and making the trip down to pick them up.

I am concerned about how do I put the arm rests from my LT seats on these ? Someone here said it was possible, but I don't understand how ?

thanks
