Coolant temperature
 

I'm sure this is an old question but I thought my 2.2 water temp was a little warm and was running at 199 maybe its just me but is that normal I had though it ran cooler than that?

To me normal operating temperature means "it's not overheating and the heater blows hot". Each car will be different based on locations and ambient temps so I would say don't sweat it.

yep iv had mine at 212 for awhile sometimes hotter going up hill just cruzing

mine runs between 190-200. Most of these newer cars have 190 stats in them.

196-198 is what i usually see. overheating is far beyond that. i once had the radiator hose blow off in my sierra. didnt loose all the fluid so i stuck it back on and drove it 50 miles to the next rest stop on the turnpike and it didnt overheat even tho i lost 2 gallons of coolant.

Mine runs ~195. In the summer, (90+ degrees) I have watched the temp go to 212, while sitting in traffic, the fan kicks on, the temp drops back down to 195.

I would like to see a more sensitive, functional analog temperature gauge in my HHR, so that I don't have to constantly scroll through the DIC readout to check engine temp. My gauge just sits on the fourth mark (right below half-way) and never moves. I have never seen a picture of an HHR's instrument cluster where the needle on the temp gauge is anywhere but on the fourth mark. (if it's up to operating temperature, of course)

I have seen up to 212, this is after high speed expressway runs and then exit up to a stop light... sitting for a few minutes it goes up, but comes right back down to the 190 - 200 range with a little movement or the radiator fan kicks in.

Todays cars run hotter due to emissions. Low two hundred range in the summer is not uncommon.

Cold enignes are bad on emmissions so the MFG get them hot fast and keep them there.

I have seen mine rise over 200 in the summer months and on longer trips. This winter, I notice mine tends to be 197-199.
