Cooling fan start UP temp?

Just want to find out at what temperature PCM sends a signal for the cooling fan to come ON.
2006 HHR 2.4L big boy:)
Conditions:
I had the car idling with AC ON for about 20 min after driving it.
Temp rose from 198 to 241 F and cooling fan did not come ON.
Got tired of waiting for it to come ON and went on driving , the Temp dropped
back to High 190 F. May be its normal for the temp get that High with out the fan kicking ON but I just want to make sure.
With my 94 Trans Am both fans come ON as soon as I turn AC ON. Regardless of the temperature of the coolant.
Thanks.

The service manual does not reference a specific temperature that the fan activates, but I know mine comes on at lower temperatures than you indicate. The fan speed actually is variable (not just on or off). Sounds like either your relay or your fan is bad. There is a 30A fuse for the fan and relay in the fuse box, so obviously that is the first thing to check.

I believe the fans turn on at around 210 F. But it depends on experiences....most everyone has had different results.

You may wish to use the SEARCH function because this topic has been discussed many times, previously. Here is one in particular to review. Go through ALL the posts. ChevyMgr provided a reasonable Service Manual explanation.

Most cars turn the fan on at about 112c and off at 108c.

Did used the search, Nothing specific about the fan start UP temp.
I know that my other cars with elec. fans start way before 241 f.
That is why I posted a thread. I wanted to know if I had a problem or not.
Looks like I have a problem.

Post #60 with the actual tables (from HPTuners read?) is very informative as well as ChevyMGR posts. Although now I wonder why my fan will run with key off and temp at 210F when it is supposed to be at around 250F for that condition (key off)?

When you say most cars....are you saying most HHR's or most all vehicles? I don't believe that's a valid statement for the HHR's. And I think 112 c is a bit high if my rusty conversion math is correct. I get something like 234 F. which does not compute to any of my 4 GM vehicles.

Thanks for pointing the thread number. Those type of tables is exactly what I wanted to see.

Also, I checked my fuse, relay is clicking and I have over 13 volts at the fan harness, Looks like I need a new fan.:(
Car only has 38400 mi, that sucks.
Anyone know where ( Any one bought the one that on Ebay ) ?

I believe the fan should activate when your AC is activated.

Coming from a Cobalt SS to a 2.4HHR I can tell you... this thing runs HOT. If I'm just sitting idling the coolant temp will get above 220 pretty easily.

Honestly I don't see it as a big problem... the car seems to run just fine either way.

If you are that concerned, you can command the fans on at a lower temp through HPTuners.
