2006 Chevrolet HHR AC- Heater problems

I have a 2006 Chevrolet HHR and I am experiencing a couple of different issues. The first one is that my power windows will not go down. I have checked the fuse and it is good, but it is all 4 windows. Then if I turn on the AC or heater then it makes this noise and will only come on if it is on the first setting. It will not cool or heat any more than that. Any clue as to what could be the issue?:skull1:

:welcome8: to the forum cboyslvr91903!

Losing function in all 4 windows rules out motor failure in the doors, so the most likely cause is a bad window switch in the center stack

Your second symptom needs a bit more information for us to make an even educated guess at to what is going on. Describe the noise please, is it a mechanical sounding noise, or a thump, or both. Also, have you ever experienced leakage of water into the passenger side foot-well?

There is a rubber patch/membrane under the cowl on the 2006 and early production 2007's that is notorious for leaking water into and behind the dash, that may be the source of your problems.

AC Noise

The AC noise is like a whining sound as it is first kicking on and then it goes to like a growling sound. I hear it most when I am braking. To my knowledge I have never had a leakage.

Welcome to the forum!

Blower Motor & resistors are shot.....

Window switch may also be shot. Lead power usually runs through the drivers window portion 1st, then goes through the rest of the switches. Onlt takes the one to kill the rest, including the door switches...

Yeah, I'll have to concur with the Good Sir Knight's diagnosis, window switch unit is shot, and it sounds like the blower motor and resistors are pooped out on you too.

That being said, it wouldn't surprise me much at all, that when you get to the blower motor you may find evidence of a water leak too.
