Reprogram key fob?

A couple of years ago one of our key fobs for the HHR stopped working. I came here and asked for advice and someone told me how we could use the other fob to reprogram the one that is not working. I did it and it worked great. But now I can't find the info on how to do it.

I am needing this info for my 2007 Hummer. I figure if it will work with a 2006 HHR it should probably work with a 2007 Hummer. Can anyone offer the instructions?

Thanks.

I haven't tried this yet and am not sure if this is the same info I got from here earlier but it sounds right. I found it on another site and people had confirmed it worked on cars ranging from a 2001 Grand Prix to a 2008 Trailblazer so I will try it as soon as my new fob gets here.

Close all the vehicle doors.
Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder.
Press and hold the DOOR unlock switch.
While holding the DOOR lock switch in the unlock position, cycle the ignition ON, OFF, ON, OFF.
Release the DOOR unlock switch. The doors will lock and unlock to confirm the program mode.
Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one keyless remote. After a delay of approximately 15 seconds , the doors will lock and unlock to confirm the programming of that transmitter.
Repeat the previous step to program up to four transmitters.
Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (one more click forward) position in order to exit the keyless entry transmitter mode.
Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation

According to www.programyourremote.com that may work on H2's but not H3's.

Yeah, I saw that. But it also said it won't work on an HHR but it did. It is worth a try. Anything I can do to save $50+, I'll give it a shot! haha

If you call around, even to different nearby towns, there is a good chance you'll find a dealer that will program it for free, especially if you buy a new one from them.

Did you read the thread? All of the help that is available to anyone is contained in it.

By "trying this with my 2007 HHR" you mean taking it to a dealer as suggested in the thread, and that is not working, then you need to find a better dealer Service Department.

Hope this helps.

I lost my key fobs for 2011 HHR. I went to the dealer but he asked high price for new one including program. Thanks God that I have spare key but without key fob.

I’m going to buy a new key fob from eBay but its need to be program.

I’m asking advice from anybody, how I can program the new one?

Thnx.

Had you read this thread you would already know that you MUST GO TO A DEALER OR A GOOD LOCKSMITH to have it programed. It cannot be done without a scanner.:propeller:

There are also many warnings about fobs from Ebay.
