Car alarm keeps going off by itself!
 

My 06 HHR car alarm keeps going off by itself and it's driving me nuts. It's annoying and I always have to have my keys nearby just in case it goes off. It's not anyone trying to break in or a cat jumping on my hood. I think it's the sensor on the drivers side door. The sensor that tells the car that the door is closed. I was in a bad car accident in 07 and had my HHR repaired. I was hit on the drivers side of the car. After 5 months from repairs, the car alarm issue began. When I drive and go over bumpy road or make turns, the car chimes that the door is open. My display even says DOOR OPEN. Sometimes when I park my car it gets stuck on DOOR OPEN and it will not let me lock my doors. What's even stranger is that this seems to occur a lot more when the weather is warm or hot. Does anyone know what or where I should look for to see if I can fix this? I just really hate to take this in to the dealership and pay big money. Any help is appreciated!

check the door switch, It's on the front where the door hinge is. Turn the key on and push in on the switch see if it will NOT show door ajar on DIC. Then just let it out a little to see when it will chime. It should come out all most to the end before it chimes. Check the other door switch to see how far the come out to see if the same.

This is driving me nuts! I'm afraid that the neighbors are going to complain about my car going off all the time. Can someone show me/tell me how to disable the security chime? Just for the meanwhile.

Just manually lock the car. Do not use key fob, do not use door switch. By using this method, the PassIII security system will not arm.:thumb:
