Anyone else having problems with HHR surging
Is anybody out there having problems with their HHR surging. Mine does not do it all the time, but when it does it is between 40 - 65 with light acceleration. Sometimes it is very light, and some times it has a hard time getting up to speed to shift. I have had it to the dealer 3 times and it will not do it for them, and there are no codes showing up. Dealer has had it for a week now and cant figure it out. Also does your dumb clove box on the dash rattle? I hate that thing. Love the car, but starting to want somebody to come and steal it!!!!

The only surge I have is between 12 and 17 pounds of boost.
Not noticed the surge you speak of on a 2.0.

Never had a surge like you describe on my 06 2LT or my SS. My gdash glove box does rattle though and I haven't found a solution yet.

My Dash didn't rattle until i put that Stupid Recall Piece in. Needless to say that's coming out.

Just ran across this post. I'm having the same problem with the surging between 40 and 60 under light acceleration. Also it seems like it doesn't stay in 3rd gear very long. Seems to shift to 4th too soon and then the surging begins. It's driving me nuts!

I am having this problem of surging also; I have had the upper 'turbo upgrade' relay changed. "This is the one directly in front of the air filter box on top of the engine." I changed my MAF sensor. I was having a 'shuttering' type effect too; kinda like when someone does'nt know how to drive a standard. chug chug chug into each gear. Well, was getting that at 60mph with no shifting. YUCK!! "The Surging feels exactly like when you are on the highway and run through a small puddle of water. 'That slight slow down feeling without the water sound.'" So, dealer just changed whole ECM. shuttering def. went away, but seems to still having the surging.

I'm having the same issue with my 2009 LS 2.2L. I'm new to the HHR and figured it was just part of not having a lot of horses, no big deal. I figured I just needed to learn how to drive it with what it has for power. I give it more gas during the 40 to 60 phase and it helps. The car, like any has it's corks, but is fun to drive and think it is relatively inexpensive to maintain and operate.

A bit more searching finds that there may be a TCM programming or a internal valve problem.
Oldblue finally got a GM tech to do something, I think.
