I did, my GM dealership service department, worked with my transmission shop and myself as the test pilot, the problem reoccurred several times at 40 MPH , like the transmission was looking for the next gear. The tech reflashed my TCM and the problem is gone and has been since the reflash.

low speed, 25-40mph, surging

I found the information I needed to have the problem corrected from Jazzdad and someone else on this thread. The dealer wanted to run a deep code and found that I needed the trans rebuild, determined by some code coming up. They never did drive the car. I don't remember the codes they found. However, I had them simply reprogram the trans. Not sure if that is the same as having it flashed or not. That did correct the surging. But I think the trans is shifting at different/lower MPH points now. I'm checking that out today.

Yet I have another different problem. 06 Chevy Equiox won't start when it is cold, 32 degrees or colder. It won't start Sunday morning, temp was 17 degrees. I jumped it from the HHR and it started just fine. Yesterday won't start at 21 degrees. 5 hrs later outside temp is 42 degrees and it starts just fine, w/o a jump. I took it to AZ for a battery check and they determined the battery, starter and alt, were working and in good order. I put the SUV in the garage last night and it started just fine, temp about 40 degrees.

Any suggestions?

Trade it in on an HHR, lol!
But seriously, try a treatment of Techron in the gas tank, in cold weather, condensation can cause this type of problem, look at my location, that’s how I know.
We used to use Methyl hydrate in the winter to separate water from the fuel.

Look at ;

"Bell Mix-I-Go" for condensation/water problems if you are using fuel with Ethanol in it.

I use the "Commercial Grade Gas And Ethanol Treatment" 32oz. bottle.

One ounce to 10 gallons of gas.

Double the dose for first 2 tank fulls if you have existing problems.

Read the Rear Label for all the additional benefits this product provides for winter use.

I use Techron in the spring to fall.

And it would help if you described the no start condition. ie: does the engine turn over or not?

You started the crying again, I have to sell my beloved HHR!!!

all kidding aside, I love my HHR, with 188k miles on it. Never had a serious problem with it, or just keeps on running strong! But I need a 4x4 where we moved to, hills, grades and SNOW and ice.

The Equinox won't start this morning, temp is 27. I forgot to park it in the garage. Last 3 mornings I've parked it in the garage and it started first time, every time. Same temp outside but about 20 degrees warmer in the garage.

I like the idea of water in the gas, hadn't thought of that before. I'll look for it around town. The Equinox has ONLY had Costco gas in it for years. However, in my other 2 cars I've been using a mix of gas from Fry's, [local grocery store] and Costco. And they start right up after sitting out all night. Yet, they are parked under a narrow deck, to keep the frost from forming on the wind shields. Could that have really made a difference?

Other then change the type/grade of gas, and the gas additive, any ideas?
