Battery dead, now door won't unlock?
Hi all! I've got a 2008 LT that's been sitting idle (my 2010 SS is my daily driver), and the battery has died. Now, the door will not unlock even with the key. Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks for any tips you may have - and I'll start, tip #1 is drive the thing regularly so the battery doesn't die!

Have to ask the obvious question, because I've got more than one HHR too, are you sure you're using the right key? Yeah, it sounds obvious, but I've done it.
Assuming you've got the right key, is it turning hard? You may need to lube the lock, or worst case scenaro, the latch assembly picked now for the worst time to fail.
Unfortunately, HHR's with dead batteries are no fun. Barring everything else, you can break the quarter light in a back door to reach in and unlock it. The quarterlights are the cheapest piece of glass on an HHR.
Or call the Auto Club if you a member of one and have them send out a truck for "lock out" service.

Wow, sorry for not coming back sooner, life got in the way and I'd completely forgotten that I'd posted this!
Haha, "do you have the right key" was the first thing my wife asked me as well I did double check and, yep, the right key was used, but it still woudn't open. Turns out the lock is damaged. Popped the doors open and now she's up and running, though we make sure the doors don't lock on us so we won't have to go through this again. Hope to have it repaired soon.
