Butyl Patch

I need a new Butyl Patch on the Cowl it's the one that a lot of people are regluing. Mine is trashed and leaking real bad. the Chevy parts web shows a part they call a Water Deflector it is part #7 in this diagram. https://www.chevyhhr.net/gallery/fil.../8/ch06290.gif Is this the part I am looking for. Here is the GM parts web page. http://www.gmpartsdepartment.com/par...agramCallOut=7

Looks like you found the right part. I found the same diagram in another posting here and they referred to the patch as the Water Deflector, as well.

If it helps, I needed a new one a while back, and just picked it up from a local dealer - it wan't much more expensive than ordering it online, and I got it the same day.

Good luck with the repair.

Seems there should be something better to replace it with. I'm still running with the original on my 2007, but I know it will find some really inconvenient time to start leaking.

I would make one, before buying one.. Piece of aluminum flashing & some silicone sealer.. And forget about it..

That's my plan if I ever have to do it again.

very frustrated with leak

I have a 2006 hhr with a sunroof and have cleaned out the windshield drains and resealed the part that everybody seems to be replacing with aluminum flashing. Ended up with 2 inches of water on the passenger floorboard again today and am going to try to find the sunroof drains to see if that is it. This is getting really frustrating!
