a/c vent temps
had my a/c system serviced last sept $500 used it twice, then winter came. yesterday temp was 80 and put air on and all i get is 82 degrees with my temp probe&hot air.to day may25 put unit on and now getting 79 degrees out the vents. when i switch toinside air recirculate i finally get a temp of 59 degrees. car is a 2011 hhr with 36000 miles on it and the air system is nothing short of a cash drain.what should the air temp be ? is it possible the blend air door is jammed? have an appointment with the dealer to morrow,service rep says parts they put in are under warranty. not expecting much,but another high bill.

I will ask the obvious:
Is the temp control set all the way to the blue side?
Is the A/C compressor running?
What is the engine temp?
the air temp should be real cold, IIRC somewhere around 38F.

air vent temps
yes the a/c is pushed on, the control nob is all the way to cold .i can feel the compressor cut in and the inside air recirculate air is pushed on with light showing on as well as the a/c light the best i can get is 59.9 degrees. i am thinking it should be around 45 degrees or am i expecting to much cold air from r134.i understand humidity plays a big part in these readings also.

just changed the cabin air filter 3 wks ago.the repair done was evacuate system, replace both high side &low side shrader valves &add color dye check for leaks and charge system.this service to a/c was done late sept last yr.$500 doesn't get much for you anymore.parts were low&high side valve, dye ,and freon plus labour.plus envirormental laws here in the cold north that are killing this country,ah but thats another story in itself,for another day.

Don't know if its a fairy tale, but I run my ac atleast once a month, supposedly preserves all the seals. Not sure if it does anything, but I have always had icy air in all my vehicles with no maintenance. Also run fan only with outside air a few mins after running the ac, dries up condensation in the system so the air doesn't smell like an old sneaker.
