DIC & cruise control

DIC & cruise control
I've had a few issues with this used 2007 LT. Today the info button in the steering wheel refuses to work, just keeps flashing between service air bag, change oil soon. I have a CEL, and the air bag light on in dash. If I set in the passenger seat the passenger air bag light stays off. No cruise control light in the steering wheel, if you turn the wheel to the left slightly the cruise control light will come on and engage the cruise briefly, as soon as you turn the wheel back to center, the light goes off and cruise disengages. Could I have a bad clock spring for the air bag? Also today the transmission is engaging and shifting very hard. Could all this be related?

this could be bad clock spring or the steering wheel has been removed and not replaced correctly, loose connection for the wheel button harness, do the HHR have radio controls?
Have you had the codes read, if so please search the code for what could be the issue

Yes everything is related to the SVC airbag message.
Unless you know what you are doing you should leave the job to a professional, and have it done before you drive it and get injured.

For what its worth, it is somewhat common on this platform to have a seatbelt sensor issue that gives you the "service airbag" light...happened on my brothers cobalt. and I found a few threads on it in the cobalt forum..but yes have the codes read

I replaced the clockspring today. The cruise now works as does the controls for the DIC as I changed the setting to unlock all doors, it was set to unlock just the drivers door. Unfortunately the air bag light is still on and still displays service air bag on the DIC. I still have not gotten the fault codes read. I will update when I get this done.

When you replace many parts of the Restraint System they need to be programed into the car. Not sure about the clockspring.
An airbag specialist is probably needed. A TechII scanner can do it, a collision shop might be able to or at least steer you to someone.
You need a special scan tool to get into the Restraint System. You probably won't be able to get any codes.

So, I'm looking through Mitchell OnDemand and it's raising some questions.
A) does the SVC airbag light go off when you sit in the passenger seat? Or just the dash indicator?
B) did you center the new clock spring module?
C) has there been any collisions or near rollovers?
D) what broke the old clock spring? It's not that easy to do.
E) is the hood closed switch working properly?
F) has any body been messing around under the console under the trans shifter?

I have a 2008 HHR and have been told my problems are with the clock spring and wanted to know if that could be the problem. Nothing on my steering wheel is working, cruise control, info control, nothing. It keeps flashing between check oil soon, power steering and airbag. My power steering works sometimes and other times it does not also my A/C is not blowing. All of this started at the same time.
