I have A 2006 2.4 LTR WITHOUT the oil cooler, so I can't visualize the bolt set-up/pattern. But would a ratcheting box end, of the correct size, work??

Nope.....No room for the ratchet.
A socket with the shortest extension will fit in there, but then you have no way to turn it. I even bought a flexible extension & it wouldn't work either.

Because it was so difficult to remove & replace, I want to make it much easier for the future. I will also have less possibility of having another leak.(less parts to leak)

I was more making fun of the service manual. They make things that are difficult sound easy and things that are easy sound complicated.

So, just wondering would a thin wall 1/4 drive socket be the tool. Or is the throw the problem?

I Just placed an order for the adapter. $80.00 plus shipping from Unique Fab they are located in Seattle. I'll get the cooler & hose from the race store around the corner from my house.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT USE THE ADAPTER & REMOVE YOUR STOCK OIL FILTER WITHOUT ADDING THE EXTRA PARTS NEEDED(Unique Fab has those parts also).
YOU WILL BLOW UP YOUR MOTOR WITHOUT THE EXTRA PARTS!
This warning is for people that are relocating there oil filter!

Pictures to come as soon as the part arrives.

YES ....... I am relocating my OIL COOLER.

Some people also like to relocate the oil filter. In most cases like the Ariel Atom, the oil filter is in a bad location & it is almost impossible to change the filter.
If you move the oil filter location, you MUST add some extra parts or you will LOSE ALL OIL PRESSURE AND LOCK UP THE MOTOR.

What do you mean "almost impossible" to change the oil filter? It takes about 10 minutes to change it. Easiest vehicle I EVER had.......all the way back to the 60's.......and maybe 35-40 vehicles.

Areial Atom ? And all this time I thought we were discussing a HHR. Not sure what one has to do with the other.

This thread gets more confusing the more I read it.

No ......... I do have a 2006 HHR!

I found the adapter on a site for Ariel Atoms. They use the same motor as the HHR and they also use a Honda motor and a V8.

I will post pictures of the before and after. You will better understand with the pictures.
