There is nothing 'elusive' about the Tech 2. All it takes is money. That one you linked is just basically an overpriced code reader/scanner and not the one that the dealers use to program. The 'real' one is much more expensive.....anywhere in the vicinity of $3500 to over $7000 depending on whether its the basic or deluxe kit. I really don't 'wish' I had it because they are expensive to keep up with the software updates etc. plus you need to have the skill/training to use one lest you run the risk of rendering your vehicle inoperable.......

True, I recently had to pay a key smith to create me an ignition key. My 17mo. old grabbed ahold my my keys one day and they dissapeared into the "black hole". $195 it took to make one, he had the big laptop sized programmer/tablet and he explained to me how the process happened. My key cost $35, the rest was for the programming codes and updates. Took over 1 1/2 hrs.

You can get the key cut anwhere as long as you have the right blank. I've seen blanks as low as $12.50, a locksmith shoudn't charge more that 5 bucks to cut it to match your exixting blank and you can program the new one yourself if you have a working one also.
