Fuel Trim Issue?

Hey folks. I have a really weird issue with my '07 LT2. I don't get it out on the highway often, but when I do the service engine soon light will come on. I had it scanned at an Auto Zone, don't remember the exact code, but the explanation was a fuel trim issue. Now the weird part, this only happens on the return trip. I can drive it TO wherever I am going with no light, but on the return trip the light will come on. It then stays on for a couple of days, after another 4 or 5 starts, the light will go back off. Any clue?

Welcome to the site.

You need to post up the actual code # for us to even try and help.
Just because AZ said fuel trim issue, means nothing. Many people have been steered in the wrong direction by an auto parts store giving them a generic description. Get the code # and I'll bet our members here can help you out.

Fwiw. Many trouble codes will "clear" after so many key cycles. As long as there isn't a reoccurance of the same code during that cycle.
Sounds like your's is just clearing itself.

P.S. It would also help to know the mileage on your car and any other info like previous repairs that could be related to the current problem.

Thanks for the help, kind of figured I would need to code for something as odd as this and I'll repost once I get it scanned again. I just turned 60K miles, no other maintenance issues. Believe this started just after I changed the air filter.

Not that odd. I would be thinking Heated O2 Sensor. Try to get them to read the "freeze frame" for you, they may not know how to do it.
But, now you mention changing the air filter. The MAF sensor may not have been plugged back in correctly, or it may be dirty.

The MAF works with the #1 HO2 sensor to adjust the fuel trim.

The MAF? Is that the one plug you disconnect as you take off the air filter cover?
