Thumbs down Grease on the lower passenger door

Maybe someone has had this issue, and can help out. Hope so. At the end of every week recently I see that I have black grease on the lower passenger door. It even shows up on the lower rear wheel splash guard. Has anybody else seen this before, and if so, what might it be?

Thanks for the help

Turn your wheels to full lock, all the way to the right, and look at the inside of the wheel. You'll probably find grease sprayed around from a torn CV boot, if that's the case, you'll need to replace the halfshaft on that side.

It's not as awful as it sounds, and it's easier and more cost effective to replace the halfshaft instead of just replacing the outer CV joint.

Here's a thread on doing the job....

The rebuilt one go for around $80, and in stock at Advance/Zone. They are even easier than Eric The Car Guy makes it seem. UNLESS you are doing the Passenger side, then you will need a bearing separator tool to get the Extension off of the "inside the trans" end.

If you do the job be sure that the boot has 4 bellows not 3, that's the reason I've done them twice.

Yes, that makes a lot of sense. The grease does in fact look as if it would be coming from the CVJ. Thanx a lot, I'll check that out.
