HVAC cutting in and out

HVAC cutting in and out
Hey folks, I've begun to notice a slight issue with my HVAC system. When I have the fan or A/C on sometimes it will very briefly lose power/circulation but returns to regular operation right away. It is like a sudden lose in strength which is corrected right away.
I haven't really noticed if it is related to any sort of driving condition (ie. acceleration condition or hitting a large bump or expansion joint.)
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be causing this and should I be concerned that the entire system might go bad? I'm going on a road trip at the end of June and I don't want to lose my fan or A/C while on the road in the heat.

I would definitely get it checked out. Is yours an '06? If so, they had problems with water getting into the HVAC system through a butyl patch. The water can fry the motor or resistor or both. If it isn't that, it's probably still a loose or damaged wire. Either problem could easily fail completely during your trip and I'm sure that would be quite aggrivating.

My HHR is an 06. I haven't heard about the water getting into the system condition. I'm assuming it is not very common because there is no recall for that. Has there been a TSB? In any case I've been out of warranty for about 8 months so I'll have to pay for it myself which could suck.

I haven't noticed any moisture or mildew or indications of moisture on the filter during my previous changes but I haven't replaced it since last summer/fall so things might have changed. I'll have to take a look at that tonight if I remember.
