Did you give them the number? Or was it a completely different problem?

14632

If it is one of the interlock solenoids or micro-switches it shouldn't cost $100.

Whopper/Old Blue: Same problem this morning in my wife's 2006. Are you saying the dealer should fix this under warranty regardless of age? Trying to decide if I should take it to local shop or dealer. Thanks.

They should - contact your dealer - and remember it is an extended warranty, NOT a recall. There was also a separate recall for the ignition switches to address the ignition switch turning off, creating a safety issue.

See also this thread that Donbrew pointed out: https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/gm-r...14632-a-52498/

When checking coverage, your dealer will do this on a case by case basis. There will be a diagnosis to confirm actual cause. Send me the VIN!

They sent a letter to owners a few years ago. This is a problem with the interlock solenoid in the shifter assembly. I don't remember the specifics, I had fixed mine with WD-40 before I got the letter.

The solenoid is not available separately, thus the official GM solution is "replace the assembly". Usually it is a matter of somebody spilled coffee with extra sugar on the console and it gummed up the solenoid actuator.

This does NOT cover the "plunger broken" problem which can be fixed with a Dorman repair kit. The difference is if the plunger is broken the button stays down or does nothing, if it is the solenoid the button does not go down.

Spray WD-40 on the solenoid plunger #1

You guys rock!
VIN is 3GNDA23P36S612740, 2006 LT
Is the pin the one underneath the ignition? I worked this back and forth several times and it seems to be working fine right now. But my wife drives this HHR most the time and it is hard to get your finger into the right spot if it sticks again.
Happy New Year.

Is there something wrong with the picture? Where do you see anything about the ignition?
