Haunted LT Panel/Uncommanded Door Opening

I have a 2008 LT Panel in which the right rear door has a mind of it's own, at times the door will pop open from simply sitting in or shifting positions in the drivers seat with the key off. once I pull into a parked position place the car in park and turn the vehicle off it may open and even after closing the door and locking the van up to shop I will return to find the door has once again popped open... Has anyone experienced this? I'm ready to just disconnect the switch all together and leave it manual..

One suggestion, and it may sound odd, but it could be time to try a "lobotomy" on your HHR.

There are times when disconnecting the NEGATIVE battery cable for approximately 30 minutes will clear spurious codes and odd behavioral foibles.

The door poppers as with everthing else in an HHR except the drivetrain, are controlled or run through the BCM(Body Control Module), and there may be a spurious issue causing the uncommanded door popper actuation.

If a "lobotomy" doesn't clear the issue, it'll be time to check the switches and wiring from the dash to the affected door.

Hey jarheadbobandmax,

I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing this problem with the door of your HHR. I cannot guarantee anything but I will be glad to look into this concern. If any extra assistance is needed, please send a PM with your VIN, current mileage, full contact information, and preferred dealership. I look forward to hear from you!

Have a look at the relays.

I don't know much about how the panel doors operate, but I think they have a separate latch and popper mechanism, maybe the latch is not actually closing?

I'm not sure, but you may find help by typing "panel doors" into the SEARCH box, I saw 6,850 links. I know there is a TSB on the opposite problem involving a washer, maybe it was fixed incorrectly, or at least get some insight into the mechanism.

Post #20 in the TSB thread. Top of this page in the "TOOLS" drop down menu.
