could someone please enlighten me as to why i can;t get vehicle out off gear {auto trans} after succesfully starting,entering &turning key to run position,pushing on brake pedal.shift lever won't come out of park.have to turn vehicle off &restart. i know i am a senior and mabe have demensia.and have looked in formun for answer and only thing i come up with is to re program key fob.is this a dealer deal or can i do it after stabing my brain with q-tip and smarting up. any and all help would be appreciated.
car is 2009 chev HHR LT

Never heard of this one in that sequence. Maybe a shift interlock solenoid or a bad shifter. Needs to go to the dealer if this happens with every remote start and you are sure you are turning the key all the way to the run position after entering your vehicle.

tryed this in my 08 and it will come out of park with key switch in run or acc,
my need to go to dealer.

I believe u folks are correct,just phoned dealer & asked what proper sequence was and was told i am doing it right &that their seems to be a problem. going in to morrow to have it sorted out. many thanks for replies.
will post fix after service visit.

decided to go in vehicle manual, re driver;s info centre and went out to car,turned key on &went thru info sequences till i came to PARK SHIFTER LOCK /UNLOCK pressed unlock and tried remote start and every thing works the way intended. the only reason i can see why it didn;t work,is maybe dealer forgot to check on pre-delivery . i certainly didn.t touch it as problem was there since purchasing car new last spring.
