Rattle in Steering Column?

Rattle in Steering Column?
Add me to the "where is the rattle" discussion. I have a 2010 LT that I hear a rattle up underneath the driver dash/steering column area when I go at really slow speeds. For instance, driving in a parking lot and there are some uneven spots. I also get a squeak and barely noticeable thunk when I turn the steering wheel back and forth. I am going to take it to the dealer but if anyone can provide input on what I should have them look for I would appreciate it. Maybe something loose in the steering column? There is no noticeable rattle when I am at full speed.

My Dealer said that isn't bad enough and they don't know what it is. Took it to them 5 times about it and they ended up saying that if some thing goes wrong in that area before 100000 mi. they will fix it free. So I have 50,000 hasn't got worse yet.

Thanks Michelle. When I turn the steering wheel back and forth at really slow speed an extension of the column ratttle is evident. Does anyone else hear a rattle/clunk when you turn the steering wheel back and forth? There seems to be one spot that triggers the clunk.

I had rattle too
I had a rattle in my 2008 HHR lt when I first bought it. Bought it used had like 27000 miles on it. The dealer replaced the steering column under warranty. Rattle came back 20 miles later. We put new sway bar links on with grease fittings. Rattle gone. Never been quieter.

Took my 2010 HHR LT with 18K miles to the dealership about the rattle in the steering column area. They advised the steering column will need to be replaced. They said the replacements are better than the OEM and gave me a rental car while the parts come in. Hopefully, this resolves it.

Interesting, I can't say I've had a rattle but more frequently now I notice a click/clunk/thunk something when turning the wheel. I can't pin it down as to what it is.
Speed doesn't seem to have much to do with it aside from it's not noticeable when I'm stopped. It does not seem to affect handling, it just thunks, but its never really very hard just noticeable. It JUST started happening in the last couple hundred miles, I'm at 39k now.
I had assumed it had something to do with the catch for the blinkers?
