Rear seat backs don't latch

Heard a rattle noise once in a while from rear of car. Checked to make sure the rear seat backs were latched in place. Found that they do not latch. You can easily pull them forward/down without using the knob on top of the seat. Both sides do this. Seems dangerous in an accident as you would easily get thrown forward. Anyone else have this problem? It is a 2010HHR. I had a 2007 and know the seats are supposed to latch in place.

They should latch. Make sure they are pushed back all the way. If they are, warranty.

But as far as safety, the seat belt is what will hold you in place in an accident. Lots of cars came out with seat that moved forwarded and not lock for access to the rear seats. That latch is not that strong.

I do have to slam mine pretty hard to get them to latch. It might just be an adjustment, or even something stuck in there.

Make sure the seat belt strap is not in the way and really slam the seat hard into position.

The button on the tops of the seats have a red ring around them, If you can see the red ring , There not latched, Once latched the red ring drops down.
