rough idle and engine light on

Hi,

Need some help. I changed the plugs and air filter today on my 2007 HHR LT 2.2 everything went smooth until I started it up. Have a rough Idle and the check engine light is on.

Everything is connected.. plugs are the same as the originals.

Any help would be great. Need the car for tomorrow and don't have another car to use..

Well. You've been a member here long enough to know. If the Check Engine Light is on, you need to have the codes read to point you to the problem and fix.

FWIW. You said everything was connected back. Are you sure ? I would recheck and pay close attention to the MAF sensor plug.

Hi Fireman George

Just went and checked the plug again. no change. Where is the negative terminal for the battery?

Really ? I offered some pretty good advice. Not sure what anyone else can offer up. I guess you don't care about getting the codes read.

No offense, but if you have to ask where the negative terminal is on the battery, maybe you should get someone else to work on your car.

I think I'm done here.

George,
The parts storeswere closed. No place to have them read. They close at 4 up here on Saturday. would love to have gotten the codes read if possible. HHRs are new to me. If it is right near the fuse box near the firewall, then I am ion the right place...

Re plug the MAF sensor!!!!!!!!! That is the electrical connection you had to disconnect to get the air filter housing off.

Get an Owners Manual here : https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/gene...s-manual-3074/

Deep breath time folks, no need for tempers to flare, we've had enough of that lately.

As Don recommended, disconnect and reconnect the MAF sensor pigtail, if it didn't seat correctly or if there is some corrosion...you'll have an HHR throwing a fit.

Let us know how you make out bluwing.

yes, must be corrosion on the connector...

Q: is there a FUSE for that connection?
