The storage compartment is hard to open. Is this normal?

I had a problem with mine. Turned out the rubber grommets inside needed to be replaced. Now it springs open when I press the button.

Thanks, need to take it to the dealer for a few other warranty issues. I'll get it fixed then.

Also check for anything interfering with the latch, my wife was complaining that the one on the '06 wasn't opening. Well after I removed what seemed like 10lbs of receipts and assorted other stuff from the compartment, it pops open fine now.

Mine in my 2007, was victimized by a latch guard (Not positive thats what it is called) required by a recall. It was fine for about a year or more, then the guard, or guide, cracked and it was very difficult to get the door open. Dealer replaced the guide, all is well again. Its been about a year since the second one was installed, or stuck in place, since its an adhesive mount.

I am going to have to see if this is my problem. Mine sits higher on one side and it puts extra tension on the latch. I have found that if I push the button towards the windshield it opens right up but if I just push down it will not open.
