Torque Converter Replacement
Hey guys,
I need this forums expert opinions about getting my torque converter replaced. My local Chevy dealership wants to charge me $1650 to replace my torque converter. I have a 2006 HHR 2.4L. My car shakes when it accelerates and stops shaking when I let go of the gas. Am I getting ripped off or is this really the price for this repair? I have a sinking feeling that I'm getting taken. Any input I'd greatly appreciate.
Thanks!

And the more I think about it $1650 sound like labor only. It cost me $1200 to R & R the engine at the salvage yard plus the $800 engine cost. I am betting that a "new GM" TQ will be more than $300 and GM labor at least $79 an hour.

Ok, so I reved the engine in park and it does not shake, neither when going in reverse. No noise that I can notice.
