wheel alignment

6 weeks ago I ran over a curb had the HHR towed 77 miles as it blew a tire bought a new tire tracking seemed good? 2 days came out of Wal-Mart had a flat tire used a little of Fix-a-flat and put air in with the compressor I keep in the car for this purpose, had the tire fixed had picked up a nail , they checked all the tires, the left front tire was way out of alighment and was wearing a lot on the inside the tire was 1 year old had to buy a new tire, went to Midas a block away for alighment quoted $60.00 took 2 and a half hours to alighment had to purchase 2 bolts for $39.99 and $40.00 labor for the 2 bolts total cost $142.00, an expensive lesson dont run over curbs and if you do get the alighment, also it dented the transmission pan it is leaking trans. fluid dealer estimate to replace fluid and gasket pan? $350.00 to $400.00 will get it done today.

One of the problems with the HHR front end and many other cars too, is there is no way to adjust camber, unless you add a camber kit. When my HHR was damaged in an accident, the camber kit was added. I put new tires on it a couple of months ago, and had the front end aligned, and sure enough the camber was out, but on mine adjustable, since it has the camber kit installed.

how could the camber be out, if the camber is supposedly unadjustable?

the lower bolt on the strut is smaller which allows the strut to be adjusted, but $39.99 is xpensive for 2 bolts.

Front end components wear, and tweek slightly as a result of pot holes, bumps, and just wear and tear.

Ever see the stamped frame the lowers are bolted too? Its not all that hard to tweak one.
Think I paid $25 for a camber kit..never used it,but its there just in case.
