Worn Carpet Under Clutch Pedal

For those that have manual HHR's, has your carpet under the clutch pedal worn almost through? The bracket that comes off of the foot pad on the clutch has worn down my carpet. there is no nap left on the carpet. Let me know if you guys have seen this. Thanks.

I haven't driven a standard in about 7 years and occasionally I still try to push the clutch in.

Not an issue with the auto HHR since there is no pedal there. But on my previous two cars (Malibus), the emergency brake pedal was located near where a clutch pedal would've been. Now that would have been a fun ride

As for the worn carpet...I had the same problem with my 89 and 98 Cavaliers that had standards.

I've had that problem before.
2001 f-150,1994 tempo, 1990 cavalier, 1985 c-10 and 1983 camaro all did it.
Floor mats (when the car is new) changed at regualr intervals (when they get holes) prevent it.

You could always wrap foam rubber around your left foot to soften the impact on the carpet, but you will lose some of the pedal feel.

However I do think that wear and tear are going to be normal with HHR's just like all of the other regular cars out there.

Having driven a clutch for the last 6 years, I'm waiting for my first panic stop where I smash the imaginary clutch to the floor board.

My mother did the same thing when she move from a 3 on the column to an auto; she did her first panic stop in the auto and that clutch went to the floor in record speed! Both my brother and I about fell out of the car from laughing so hard. Even she chuckled.

As I think about it, when I went from an auto to a 5 on the floor; I gave my mom her first ride and I grab the gear shift lever to put my truck in reverse. She had a good laugh as the wipers started their dance across the windshield. ...and I chuckled as well.

New cars (trucks) can be embarrassing.

Mines a manual shift and no carpet wear at this point. I have about 15,000KM (9300 miles) so not a lot of going compared ot many here.
