Drag Racing HHR SS with Manual Transmission

Hoping to get input and share experiences in launching the manual transmission. First time at the drag strip I ran a 15.444 best 1/4 mile ETA. The biggest issue I see is the launch, as I was still able to run over 96 mph. According to what I read, everyone talkes about just dumping the clutch when in launch control. Obviously this does not work as the car seems to bog down. After practicing in the last week I'm starting to see that the timining needs to be perfect on letting the clutch out quickly but not dumping what are you other guys thoughts?

If was you I would take off like you would be leaving from a light. Ride the clutch out the hole to keep some of the wheel spin down. You shouldn't dump the clutch.

Best 60' was 2.676. I know this is where I am messing up. We should be somewhere around a 14.8 for 1/4 in stock trim. Any of you had your manual at the drag strip and if so what times you run.

Leave soft Rob, or bring some extra driveshafts with ya, and an 18MM socket, you should be ok, with all your mods. But beware these cars hate wheel hop.

I shouldn't have wheel hop with the solid tranny mounts and engine mount. I am not going let the SS dead hook on the launch. I'll burn out the clutch before I snap an axle.

i learned that last time i went to the track, i was running like a 15.5 with just dumping the clutch and then i got down to a 13.9 with riding or feathering the clutch out of the box
