Stop read track saftey
Hey All, PLEASE POST YOUR OWN SAFTEY CONCERNS, SOLUTIONS HERE
Now that the tracks all over the country are starting their seasons, it is time to start to be saftey aware, for yourself and your fellow racers.
I would like to share what happened last night at I-40 Dragway here in TN.
Like so many tracks, fridays are for us weekend warriors to get out there with our slightly or in some cases heavily modified street cars, and have a good time. Well, during open runs last night a fairly well modified Civic busted a radiator hose, halfway down the track. the mechanical problem was not readily detected, by track officials. the car pulled to a obscure part of the pit area, and shut down for the night, never realizing that the officials had not seen the breakdown. So they let another set of cars go down the track and of course a wreck occured because of the radiator fluid.
if you've been racing before, you know anytime there is a fluid on the track, the whole infected area, and in extreme cases the whole track, needs to be re-prepped, which can take upwards of an hour. The entire time this was going on the Civic had departed after having some heated exchanges with several other drivers.
The point of this story, if you think you broke something on the track, especially if you think it could involve fluids, I beg you to tell someone Immediately! Usually you can tell the man who gives you your timeslip, thats part of what he is there for.
Luckly, no one was hurt but one really expensive Outlaw Class was thrashed pretty bad at about 150MPH

Amen!
The driver of the Civic was duty bound to tell someone he'd dropped fluids on the track, not only is it common sense, but its in the rulebooks at most facilities. Hopefully he's banned from the Dragway for a sufficient amount of time for the havoc he caused to sink in.
