Keyfob battery low indicated in DIC
My friend has finally seen the light and bought a gently used 2007 HHR LS. His "Low Battery Keyfob" message is being displayed. He replaced the batteries in both but the message is still there. Could it be a battery post loose in the keyfob? What else does he need to do? Or is this a "dealer needs to look at it" thing?

2007 DIC can display the following:
AUTO LIGHTS OFF
AUTO LIGHTS ON
BATTERY SAVE
BRAKE FLUID LOW
CHANGE OIL SOON
CHECK CHARGE SYSTEM
CHECK GAS CAP
CRUISE ENGAGED
DOOR AJAR
ENGINE POWER REDUCED
GATE AJAR
ICE POSSIBLE
KEY FOB BATT LOW
LOW COOLANT LEVEL
LOW FUEL
LOW OIL LEVEL
LOW TRACTION
POWER STEERING
PARKING BRAKE
SERVICE AIR BAG
SERVICE VEHICLE SOON
START DISABLED
I think this could be a key fob, BCM or programming issue. I have yet to see one that actually needed a battery. He needs to go see his dealer.

Owner Manual only states : The KEY FOB BATT LOW message in the
vehicle’s DIC will display if the remote keyless
entry transmitter battery is low.
Notice: When replacing the battery, use care
not to touch any of the circuitry. Static
from your body transferred to these surfaces
may damage the transmitter.
To replace the battery in the remote keyless entry
transmitter do the following:
1. Use a flat thin object to separate the bottom
half from the top half of the transmitter.
2. Remove the battery and replace it with the
new one. Make sure the positive side of the
battery faces up. Use one three-volt, CR2032,
or equivalent, type battery.
3. Put the two halves back together. Make sure
the cover is on tightly, so water will not get in.
Under normal use, the battery in your remote
keyless entry transmitter should last about
four years.

Also, while you are inside the fob check to make sure all 3 solder points are still good on the battery hold down thingy. When you remove the old battery be sure to pull the circuity board away from the rubber seal/button holder, then slide the battery out and then in, DO NOT LIFT THE TANG TO PULL THE BATTERY UP/OUT. I repaired mine by soldering the tang back onto the circuit board, but no guarantee it does not do $55 damage for new fob.
