Question Cigarette lighter install

Hi all first post!
I have an hhr ss and need to install a cig. lighter in the dash aux outlet. I have the element for the lighter and I wonder if I need anything more to make the switch. Is it just a plain switch of the aux. with the element?
Thnx Bill

Most aux sockets state they are not for lighters. So you will need to swap the set (socket/element). But should be an easy switch, just replace. Wiring is already there.

Mine came with the lighter. So I can't say whether you can just put a lighter in the stock socket or not. But it will either work or not.

Thanks Solman. Not sure if the element would accept the the fuse size.

power wise, the fuse should handle the lighter. I know when you get the smokers package, it come with the element and ashtray. That tells me the element should work with the aux socket. But I know on my wifes MPV, the aux socket states to not insert a lighter.

But if the socket won't heat the lighter, the socket swap would be needed, and that should be a direct swap. Most are universal in size.

Corkey, good time to quit. Bad habit and expensive in so many ways. After you quit you will notice how bad smokers smell. No saint like a reformed sinner.

My HHR came with a cigarette lighter in the dash power supply and no ashtray. I don't smoke and the power outlet is the plug for my GPS unit. The rear plug I'll use, on occasion, to charge the cell phone.

My sticker said I paid $40 for the smoker package, and all I got was the shty plastic ashtray and no lighter.

But, not to worry, because I haven't had a cigarette for nearly 8 months now, and the $120/month savings was the payment difference between the SS and not the SS.
