Red face locking gas cap for hhr?

ive tried most all that i can think of , has anyone come up with a solution for getting anything that can fit the hhr gas cap and lock so the door will close? the problem is the filler neck is set to high and most ive tried present the same problem, the door wont close , i know its hard to siphon as the there are supposed to be prevention screens in neck, but dumping stuff down is my worry , little jitterbugs that are jealous in nieghborhood are capable and have done so to others. Has someone come up w/ an answer to this problem?

I have two very large dogs.....

Seriously though, I haven't looked for one myself, but it seems a couple of guys on the forum have found one that worked, maybe they will chime in here.

welcome to the Forum

Start a rumor about the large caliber hand gun you have and that story about the last fool that touched your car.

blameme4it, you didn't say what year/engine your hhr is, I think there was some discussion a while ago that seemed to indicate that the newer flexfuel vehicles *might* have had a slightly longer fuel neck, leaving less clearance to the door than the 2008 and older models. RockAuto shows a stant cap available that appears to have a pretty low profile. Either the part #10511 (in black) or the #10511Y (in flexfuel yellow). I think I googled "2010 hhr locking gas cap" or similar to find that. If I guessed the wrong year, you could always do a regular search on RockAuto to see what they recommend in order to help ensure correct application.

No affiliation, just liking the cap picture, which looks like it has a lower profile than some of the others I've seen.

The Stant Cap is too High (part #10511 (in black) or the #10511Y (in flexfuel yellow). Get the 5903 for 08 or older HHRs, get the 5904 (yellow) for 09 and newer. Just got it from Auto Zone (CST Brand I think?). Fits perfect. Just follow the instructions on how to LOCK. You must use the key, unlike Stant that just clicks and locks. I tried the Stant myself-too high.

I had two of them first one froze and it took some work to get it off, the second kept setting off the check engine light because it wasn't sealing tight . was told by my dealer they are not needed The HHR has a screen in the nosel to prevent a syphen hose .

That screen won't prevent someone from dumping something into the tank........
