Angry Oil leak....

I recently bought a 06 HHR LT2 2.4. It is a beautiful car and I'm in love with it until a few mornings ago I noticed a oil leak. I crawled under the car and found it was dripping from the oil pan. At first thought I figured the oil pan gasket was worn or faulty or the pan was torqued wrong. I took it to the dealer and I guess there is a TSB or techincal service bullitin against it. They are try to tell me that it will be a thousand dollars to fix. Has anyone else encountered this problem and had it fixed. Please help this car has got to be ready by the 20th because I leave to Iraq and the wife is driving home

Is it out of warranty? If so, by how much? If it is close, you could try to see if either the dealer or GM will offer some goodwill assistance. Otherwise, get a quote from an independant garage as well to see how much cheaper it would be.

It has 71000 and some change on it... I really wish I didn't turn down the warranty they offered me for the outrageous price of 3000 bucks...

yeah, they probably won't want to help you then with that mileage. Definitely check with an independant garage or two for prices. Possibly pay Alldata to get the TSBs and see what is really involved in the repair.

I just looked through all the TSB's and couldn't find anything related to the oil pan leak . But maybe I missed something

Alldata is that site that has all the TSBs right, can you just get the info you need or do you have to subscribe to a service that i really will only use once.. hopefully?

using the words "dealer" and 'shady' in the same sentance can be redundant.

some dealers are fair, others are not. I would go visit an independant shop.
One piece of advice we used to give at our shop was for the owner to have the engine steam-cleaned. The drive the vehicle straight to us.
we would then spray some DESENEX on the engine/transmission/transaxle/etc which leaves a non-flammable white coating, making oil leaks easier to spot.

if it is in fact your oil pan gasget, get 1 or 2 estimates, and have it fixed. Oil leaks tend to get worse over time.
