Drive cycle

What is the correct way to do a drive cycle on a 2010 Chevy hhr 2.2l. I’ve read multiple threads been letting cat idle for 21/2min then drove at 55 mph for 3 min let coast by itself till it reaches 20 mph then 3/4 throttle till 55 mph hold there for 5 min then let coast again. This font seem to be working to clear pending catalytic and evap

A drive cyccle is so hard to accomplish that it is mythical. Normal driving for a few cold starts will get it done. The EVAP tests will run after 15 cold starts and keeping the tank more than half full

There are many "drive cycle" posted on the internet most of them are basically "Stand on your left foot while waving your right hand in the air counter clockwise while at the same time singing Bo-Didley backwards". None of them work.

They don't claim to clear codes. They claim to force the OBD2 tests to run. The only real way to do it is with a Tech2 scanner

I believe that NY will pass you with 1 incomplete test. Never disconnect the battery if you are due for a smog soon; that clears everything and all of the OBD testing has to start from scratch.

Clearing codes does not fix anything, but fixing the problem usually clears the codes. Pending codes don't fail inspections, pending/incomplete tests do and current codes do.

I have been out the last couple of nights performing the above mentioned ritual. Coasting along the shoulder of the freeway, in the dark, is always an exciting thing to do.
I was able to get everything completed except the EVAP. I read this thread and with only that one sin, I headed down to the test place and passed!
I was having trouble with the catalyst test. I tried a brake-and-accelerator-RPM at 1200 for about a minute. I think that might have fixed the catalyst test.
Thanks!

Happy you passed the test, what EVAP problem are you having , is there a CEL code? Post the code, could be something simple.

No codes.
Only Available/Not Available and Completed/Not Completed.
I replaced the battery, and that, I think, is what started the whole adventure.

You should have oldblue change your user ID. Posting your email address to the world is not a good thing.
