Is there a trick for disconnecting the door latch mechanism from the door panel once it's off?

It looks like I might be able to push out the pin but I'm not sure if I could get it back in again.

Best place I found was " you tube ", inside door handle replacement. The parts maker has a video that is excellent on showing how to take the door panel off...

have a random sticking situation with the door lock on the drivers door, as it will not work with the key to open it, only the remote will open it at times. kinda think that its pretty stupid to have access with only one door and not the passenger side also....is there a safe way to get the door panel off without breaking anything so that i can correct the lock condition???????.......tks tom

Smile left front inside door handle

i purchased a inside door handle for my 2011 hhr from ebay, after reading the procedure to take off the door panel, i did the following, i took the car to bigger chevy they installed it,at a cost of $253.95, $ 100.00 for the part,$ 129.00 labor i know the cost was high, but beat screwing around for hours. one thing i dont understand is the chevy dealer glenelin quoted me $67.00,how bigger chevy charged me a $100.00, for the same part,i guess loyality to the dealer dont count.i pays to shop around.len

The definition of a "fair market price" is what somebody will pay. You agreed to the price, therefore by definition it's a fair price.

Sorry to resurrect this particular Thread... I posted earlier in the month on this subject, and was directed to this thread...

What I need to do, is replace ONLY...

THIS PART
.

I do not need to replace the entire fixture, that this Thread is focused on, or as shown in the video a few posts above here.

So... I am about to place my order for the parts sometime within the next couple of days... now that all my 'required monthly bills' have been paid off... and I have to replace the same on both my front doors.

So how easy is it to just swap those handles out, without having to replace that entire fixture? I've read through this thread and not really found any definite info on this. From the picture, it looks like its just a simple Pin that needs to be removed, and then slid back into place with the new part?

Here's the directions that come with it. I took me 2 minutes after I got the door panel off. hint: search phrase "handle".
